Lívia Mattos is a distinctive figure on the Brazilian music scene. With a magnetic stage presence and a unique approach to her instrument, she moves freely between forró, samba and other Brazilian traditions, merging them with modern and experimental expressions. In Lívia Mattos’ hands, the accordion becomes both a rhythmic driving force and a melodic voice.
When Lívia Mattos comes to ALICE, she performs in a trio format where her accordion meets tuba and drums — an unusual instrumentation that creates a rich and playful sonic landscape. The repertoire draws, among other things, from her latest album “Verve” (2025), as well as the earlier releases “Vinha da Ida” (2017) and “Apneia” (2022). Mattos also draws on her background in circus arts, bringing a strong theatrical and physical presence to her concerts and creating a captivating stage show. With international attention from festivals including WOMEX and Montreux Festival, Lívia Mattos now comes to Copenhagen, and we are honoured to present her at ALICE in November.
