With his masterful guitar playing, Yerai Cortés has, in just a few years, established himself as one of the most distinctive voices of flamenco’s new generation. The young Spanish guitarist takes the art form to new heights through his remarkable ability to unite technical virtuosity, deep-rooted tradition, and fearless innovation. We are thrilled to welcome Yerai Cortés to ALICE for an intimate solo performance this November.

Yerai Cortés is far more than an exceptionally gifted guitarist. He has become a leading figure in a new era of flamenco and, alongside artists such as Israel Fernández and Ángeles Toledano, has helped make the proud Spanish tradition feel urgently relevant today. Born in Alicante, Cortés moved to Madrid at the age of 17, where he quickly made his mark on the city’s legendary flamenco scene with his captivating playing and his ability to bridge tradition and renewal. He has performed with many of flamenco’s great masters while also collaborating with contemporary artists such as icon C. Tangana, pop star Judeline, and electronic musician Floating Points. Following extensive international touring and the award-winning documentary La guitarra flamenca de Yerai Cortés (2024), directed by C. Tangana, his name has become synonymous with modern flamenco of the very highest calibre.

At just 31 years old, Yerai Cortés’ music possesses a rare sense of poise, depth, and maturity that makes him sound like an artist with decades of experience behind him. When he places his fingers on the strings, the guitar seems almost to speak its own language. His playing is elegant, expressive, and profoundly moving. Following the breakthrough success of his debut album, a Latin Grammy nomination, and multiple Goya Awards, he now returns with the critically acclaimed follow-up POPULAR (2026). The album unfolds as a dazzling flamenco kaleidoscope, bursting with styles and variations that showcase both his extraordinary musical knowledge and his relentless curiosity to push the tradition in new directions.

Yerai Cortés is part of this year’s sold-out Roskilde Festival programme, but at ALICE audiences will have a unique – and perhaps final – opportunity to experience this extraordinary guitarist in an intimate solo setting.
