“Sometimes the human voice is all you need, communicating something essential about our drive to exist together as a species, to sound our internal worlds in union, at volume” – The Guardian
The Irish quartet Landless consists of Lily Power, Méabh Meir, Ruth Clinton and Sinéad Lynch. They found each other on Dublin’s traditional singing scene and have been creating exquisite harmonies together since 2013, interpreting ancient Irish ballads as well as newer folk songs from a variety of sources. The quartet’s sound is at once spellbinding, dark and majestic. Expect a spine-tingling experience as the four singers fill the room with their powerful voices.
In 2018, Landless released their critically acclaimed debut album Bleaching Bones, followed in 2024 by Lúireach, which was met with equally enthusiastic reviews. The album is filled with quiet power, reimagining traditional songs about melancholy, love, death and mystery in new and surprising ways, at times accompanied by instruments. Many of the songs on the album tell of bold women who challenge the passive female archetype often found in traditional songs. “It is refreshing to find songs that challenge this power dynamic, but we are not totally hard-line about it, and sing plenty of old-fashioned love songs,” says Ruth Clinton of the quartet. Look forward to songs of both courage and devotion when Landless bring their captivating, moving and powerful sound to ALICE.
What the critics say about Landless
“…fans of Celtic music should flock to this stunning sound” – Jude Rogers in The Guardian on Lúireach (2024)
Gwenifer Raymond
“A profound talent” – The Guardian
Welsh guitar and banjo virtuoso Gwenifer Raymond has made an international name for herself with her dazzlingly beautiful fingerpicking. Drawing on the deep-rooted traditions of Mississippi blues and the intricate Americana of John Fahey, she explores her roots in rural South Wales alongside her fascination with folk horror and the avant-garde. Over the years, she has developed a distinctive musical form dubbed Welsh Primitive.
The influential American label Tompkins Square signed Gwenifer Raymond early in her career, releasing her debut album You Were Never Much of a Dancer (2018), which went on to receive rave reviews and established her as a rare talent with a truly unique style. Her latest album, Last Night I Heard the Dog Star Bark (We Are Busy Bodies, 2026), is a hybrid of the ancient and the futuristic, fusing dark, enigmatic motifs inspired by occult folk horror with shimmering, cosmic soundscapes. Gwenifer Raymond is renowned for her technically brilliant live performances, most notably at this summer’s Roskilde Festival.
