When ALICE kicks off its autumn season this Friday, the venue will have sold more tickets to its own concerts than in all of 2024.

In 2024, ALICE sold a total of 14,212 tickets to its own concerts – the highest number of tickets ever sold in the seven-year history of the venue.

And with more than 15,000 tickets sold this year for its own concerts, last year’s record has already been broken – in August. In addition to its own concerts, ALICE also presents shows at other locations around the city.

“At ALICE, we are of course thrilled,” says general manager HC Gimbel.

“And when we beat our own records two years in a row, we must be doing something right. One of the things we focus on at ALICE is starting with the conversation about the music itself.”

One of the venue’s hallmarks is its Music Group. The Music Group consists of five bookers with very different experiences, networks, backgrounds, and tastes, who discuss the necessity behind every single booking in the program.

The Music Group works by consensus, helping to move beyond individual habits and ensuring broad representation and a high artistic standard in ALICE’s bookings.

“When we want to share a story like this, it’s not just to present impressive numbers. We want to highlight how important it is to raise music collectively. When there is a conversation from the very beginning about why an artist is important and relevant, it leaves a mark throughout the whole organization – from booking through administration and marketing, and right down to the concert itself, where the audience can feel it.”

“There is often talk about how difficult it is to sell tickets to so-called ‘niche’ or ‘unknown’ art. But our numbers reflect a huge desire to experience music that surprises, experiments, and crosses genre boundaries. That is exactly what you can experience at ALICE. And that makes us incredibly happy on behalf of the music. It seems that we still have great opportunities to grow – hopefully to the benefit of the entire music scene in Copenhagen and across the country.”

ALICE’s autumn season opens this Friday, August 29, with a sold-out concert by the Vietnamese band Saigon Soul Revival.

About the Music Group

Since 2023, ALICE has had a Music Group. The current members are Mero Cimen, Isabel Douglass, Susi Castelo, Winnie Nakaddu, and Ulf Eriksson.

Each person in the Music Group has their own distinct artistic profile, which they bring into the group’s collective working process. Before an artist is booked, there must be full consensus in the group.

With its diverse composition and collaborative way of working, the Music Group has become a hallmark of ALICE – the heart of the venue’s efforts for broader representation and stronger concert experiences.
