In recent years, he has established himself as an indispensable voice on Greenland’s music scene, and this summer he will return to Roskilde Festival for his second large-scale performance. This October, audiences will have a rare opportunity to experience Tarrak up close when he takes the stage in the intimate setting of ALICE.

Tarrak is one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Greenlandic music. With fierce expressiveness, charisma and political urgency, he speaks candidly about Greenlandic experiences and realities through his razor-sharp lyrics at a time when Greenland has moved to the centre of international political tensions. Personal experiences are interwoven with a pointed critique of colonial thinking and social inequality, and even if you do not understand the Greenlandic language, Tarrak’s message comes across with unmistakable force. His impact extends far beyond music, and he has established himself as an important critical voice in contemporary Greenland.

Tarrak first broke through with his debut album FxGxS, particularly through the track “Tupilak”, which became a viral hit and brought him recognition far beyond Greenland’s borders. Since then, he has proven himself an artist committed to using music as a space for reflection, resistance and community. On his 2019 album Josef Tarrak, he turned inward with a deeply autobiographical work that explored identity, vulnerability and belonging through honest reflections on his upbringing. Since then, he has released a string of powerful singles, including “Uummatima” with Danish rap group Suspekt in 2023 and, most recently, his own single “Pigalugu” (2025). Along the way, Tarrak has received numerous accolades, including the Talent Award at the Koda Awards and the Greenland Self-Government Encouragement Award. In 2023, Tarrak became the first Greenlandic rapper ever to perform at Roskilde Festival, and in 2026 he will return with a major performance on the festival’s main programme. This October, audiences will have a rare chance to experience Tarrak at close range when he performs in the intimate surroundings of ALICE.
