With captivating charisma and political urgency, Tarrak delivers hard-hitting rap about identity, resistance, inequality and colonial power structures. In recent years, he has established himself as an indispensable voice on the Greenlandic music scene, and this summer he will take the stage at Roskilde Festival for the second time with a large-scale show. In October, audiences will have a rare opportunity to experience Tarrak up close when he performs in the intimate setting of ALICE.

Tarrak is one of the most prominent figures on today’s Greenlandic music scene. With fierce expressiveness, charisma and political urgency, he gives raw and uncompromising voice to Greenlandic experiences and realities through his razor-sharp rap lyrics, at a time when Greenland has moved to the centre of international political tensions. Personal experiences intertwine with a pointed critique of colonial thinking and social inequality, and even if you don’t understand the Greenlandic language, as an audience member you are never in doubt about Tarrak’s unequivocal messages. His significance reaches far beyond music, and he has established himself as an important critical voice in contemporary Greenland.

Tarrak broke through with his debut album “FxGxS”, with the track “Tupilak” in particular becoming a viral hit and making him known far beyond Greenland’s borders. Since then, he has proven himself an artist determined to use music as a space for reflection, resistance and community. On his 2019 album “Josef Tarrak”, he turned his gaze inward with a deeply personal, autobiographical work that explored identity, vulnerability and belonging through candid stories from his upbringing. Since then, he has released a series of powerful singles, including a collaboration with Danish hip-hop group Suspekt in 2023 and his latest solo single, “Pigalugu” (2025). Along the way, Tarrak has received numerous accolades, including the Talent Award at the Koda Awards and the Encouragement Award from the Government of Greenland. In 2023, Tarrak became the first Greenlandic rapper ever to perform at Roskilde Festival, and in 2026 he returns for a spectacular concert as part of the festival’s main programme.
