Øyunn leaves a lasting impression on her audience with dynamic grooves, expressive vocals, and personal lyrics that delve into relationships, hope, inner turmoil, belonging, and identity. In January, the award-winning Norwegian drummer and singer will kick off the concert season at ALICE with her band. Before them, Precious Mayhem takes the stage: avant-pop with dark, confrontational lyrics, captivating melodies, and tender strokes from a cello.
Since her entry into the Danish music scene, the Copenhagen-based Norwegian drummer, singer, and rapper Siv Øyunn, aka Øyunn, has captivated audiences with her unique sound, featuring dynamic grooves, expressive vocals, and personal lyrics on themes such as relationships, hope, inner unrest, belonging, and identity. In November 2023, she released her debut concept album Aspects on the Danish label Midnight Confessions. The album was recorded live at the Munch Museum in Oslo and was originally conceived as a multidisciplinary work combining film, performance, and concert elements. GAFFA called the album a tour de force, awarded it five stars, and compared it to an early work by Björk. Øyunn has since been honored with Tivoli’s Jazz Award as the Breakthrough of the Year and won New Jazz Artist of the Year 2024 at the Danish Music Awards.
Øyunn has performed and collaborated with artists such as Nils Frahm, Efterklang, and Guldimund, and composed music for productions at the Royal Danish Theatre, Norway’s National Theatre, and Dansens Hus (NO). At ALICE, we also had the pleasure of featuring her during our opening week on Nørre Allé as part of the drum ritual Nebula: Give The Drummer Some. As a solo artist, Øyunn brings her versatile background into her music with authenticity, catchy hooks, and experimental transitions. Her music is engaging and relatable, with an open, distinct sound performed with exceptional musical energy. Øyunn will drum, rap, and sing live when she returns to ALICE this evening, accompanied by a band on bass, synth, and backing vocals. It promises to be dynamic, powerful, and deeply heartfelt.
Precious Mayhem
Precious Mayhem is the project of composer, songwriter, vocalist, and cellist Amanda Drew, known from the Aarhus-based band Natlyst. With a blend of cello, synthesizer, guitar, and vocals, she navigates between genres and eras, creating a soundscape that spans everything from chamber music and choral arrangements to 90s techno. In her music, Precious Mayhem explores themes like anger, trauma, care, and hope through dark, confrontational lyrics, breathtaking melodies, and the tender strokes of the cello.
In October 2024, her debut album ‘The Softness I Sing’ was released—a concept album of waltzing sleepwalking songs, born from nights filled with anxiety and care. With healing rock ballads and heartbreaking lullabies, Precious Mayhem lulls her listeners into both calm and rebellion.
