The folk chanteuse and multi-instrumentalist Josephine Foster is one of the most original voices on the alternative folk scene. Since 2000, she has released a string of critically acclaimed albums, spanning from psychedelic folk and old American ballads to blues—and even an album of German lieder. On her latest album, ‘Domestic Sphere’ from 2023, she paints ghostly timbres with her voice and the electric guitar. Her music moves freely, just like the musician herself, whose distinctive, trembling vocals are unmistakable. Radio station NTS has described her voice as one that shakes the soul.
