Gidiki GR

Traditional Greek folk celebration in vibrant new forms
SOLD OUT

Gidiki raise the roof and transform ALICE into a pulsating panayiri – the traditional Greek village feast where music and chain dancing unite people across generations. With their irresistibly lively take on Greek folk music, Gidiki have become one of the most popular contemporary interpreters of the genre. Expect a room set in motion when they take the stage this May. There will be a volunteer dance workshop with Alex & Vasileia (Greek Traditional Dancing group)  before the concert.

Program
20:00: Doors
21:00: Dance workshop
22:00: concert

Formed in 2015, Gidiki began as an experimental young collective bound together by a shared love of the Greek folk tradition. After years of performing at venues and festivals in Thessaloniki and Athens, the band found its current shape – with improvisation as its beating heart. Each concert unfolds as a living organism, where traditional rhythms and melodies are reborn in vibrant new forms. With deep respect for their acoustic roots and a playful approach to structure and arrangement, Gidiki create a sound that is constantly in motion. Clarinets, strings and hand-played percussion intertwine with a contemporary energy that stretches from the village square into the urban night. The result is a dynamic exchange between stage and audience – a modern take on the Greek panayiri that brings generations together and invites everyone to join the chain dance.

In 2023, Gidiki released their debut album “AHOY”, cementing their position on the Greek scene and taking them on international tours across Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and beyond. Now they bring the celebration to Nørrebro when they perform at ALICE. So grab your friends and join Gidiki on the dance floor this May.
