Divide and Dissolve AU + entrance/d SE/DK/ES/HK

Doom metal for a future without suppression

Beauty, noise, and frequencies so heavy, they will make your nostrils flutter. Come join us for a night of metal with the critically acclaimed doom-project Divide and Dissolve and the new Copenhagen-based band entrance/d.

entrance/d

entrance/d is a new band from Copenhagen, playing ecstatic and transcendental black metal on drums and no less than six guitars. Inspired by the intensity of spiritual free jazz, black metal, and fanfares, the band explores extreme rhythms and distorted sounds as a way to transcendence. Their sound is marked by repetition, exhaustion, and walls of noise, and their concert also takes on the form of a ritual: here, feedback, self-oscillation, and distortions will blur the boundaries between trance and collapse. For this evening at ALICE, entrance/d consists of Harald Ingvarsson, Jens Aagaard, Mads Ulrich, Yi Ten Lai, Bjørn Nitschke, Alfred Lykke, and Jeff Wagner. They will perform among the audience in a circle formation. Buckle up, and open your mind, because something truly special is coming your way when entrance/d takes the stage!

Divide and Dissolve

How to speak about the things, you do not have words for, but have been felt for generations? Through sound and music, according to musician Takiaya Reed, who’s behind the doom-project Divide and Dissolve and Black and Cherokee. The project focuses on  Indigenous Sovereignty, and hereby also the love and hope, necessary to overcome systemic oppression. “The love is insatiable, and the strengh that comes from that”, Takiaya Reed said recently to the radiostation KEXP, referring to her 2025-album ‘Insatiable’.

Behind them, Divide and Dissolve have the albums ‘Basic’ from 2017, ‘Abomination’ from 2018, the critically acclaimed ‘Gas Lit’ from 2023, and – as mentioned – the newly released Insatiable. The project’s sound, created with percussion, guitar, piano, synths, and saxophone, is overwhelming: heavy and heavenly, beautiful and dissonant, with sludge riffs interwoven with orchestral passages. In 2022, Divide and Dissolve performed on the Platform stage at Roskilde Festival, and in 2023, we had the pleasure of presenting Divide and Dissolve at ALICE. 2024 was equally eventful for Takiaya Reed: Divide and Dissolve played at fashion brand Miu Miu’s runway show and at the Berlin club Berghain; at the Venice Biennale, the New York Sculpture Center, and the art museum MASS MoCA in Massachusetts, USA. We look forward to feeling the noise of Divide and Dissolve when the project returns to ALICE this October!
