Det Blev Handgemäng SE

Devil-may-care americana and rockabilly with heartfelt lyrics and three powerful lead voices up front

ALICE is transformed into a slice of the dusty Midwest, with twanging guitars and a busy upright bass, as Det Blev Handgemäng take the stage. The Swedish quartet fuses americana, country, rockabilly and Nordic folk into a sound that is both devil-may-care, authentic and irresistibly present. With three lead singers and lyrics that hit you straight in the gut, they set the scene for an unforgettable night steeped in country spirit at our venue.

Det Blev Handgemäng loosely translates to “It ended in a fight” – a name that says quite a bit about the unruly energy and tongue-in-cheek charm that runs through both the music and the live shows of this Swedish country band. Here, humor and gravity are two sides of the same coin. Det Blev Handgemäng master the art of storytelling, circling themes of loss, longing and life on the edge – delivered through poetic lyrics and strong, memorable melodies nodding to country, americana and rockabilly. The music is carried by guitars, upright bass and harmonica, and with no fewer than three lead vocalists, there is both variation and dynamic depth in their sound. The vocals move effortlessly between the husky and the melancholic, the fragile and the forceful – always with a heartfelt intensity that lands right in the pit of your stomach.

Det Blev Handgemäng are renowned for their intense live performances, where hard-boiled energy, heart and genuine joy of playing merge into a shared space between band and audience. With two albums and a string of singles under their belt, the band brings a solid repertoire of songs that linger in the body long after the final chord fades. Roll up your sleeves and experience it for yourself when the outstanding Swedish quartet plays ALICE this April.
