Clarissa Connelly’s otherworldly fusion of Nordic folk music, Celtic traditions, and modern pop has resonated far beyond Denmark’s borders in recent years. During Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2025, we once again have the great pleasure of presenting the Scotland-born rising star on the ALICE stage.

Singer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer Clarissa Connelly is rapidly becoming one of the major names to emerge from Denmark’s alternative music scene. Her distinct music combines modern pop and experimental folk with Celtic and medieval undertones, possessing a quality that is almost childlike, warm, and whimsical, yet also exudes dark sensuality, unrest, and existential fear. Born in Fife, Scotland, before relocating to Denmark, Connelly is known for her use of complex arrangements, grandiose chords, and rich, eclectic instrumentation. Her compositions always exist on the liminal space between the mundane and the supernatural, with lyrical and musical roots in Celtic folklore – something that is clearly heard in Connelly’s experimental vocal technique.

Clarissa Connelly first gained international recognition with ‘Tech Duinn’ (2018), a hypnotic EP intertwined with Celtic mythology. On ‘The Voyager’ (2021), she physically traversed the Scandinavian landscape, channeling melodies from ancient pre-Christian sites. Her latest release, ‘World of Work’, came out in April last year on the iconic Warp Records label. More intimate yet cosmic in scope than its predecessors, the album draws inspiration from visionary literature, dreams, and meditative walks. Last year, we had the pleasure of hosting Clarissa Connelly for two exclusive, sold-out concerts at Akvariet. Now, we eagerly look forward to welcoming themusician back to ALICE during the Copenhagen Jazz Festival!
