Haley Fohr, the Chicago-based musician, composer, and multidisciplinary artist behind the moniker Circuit des Yeux, possesses a vocal expression that’s hard to shake. Her voice stretches not only across four octaves but also across melodic hooks, animalistic bleats, and elemental wails. It’s no wonder her voice is at the heart of Circuit des Yeux’s maximalist, musical universe, which draws on psychedelic folk, dramatic rock, avant-garde elements, orchestral compositions, electronic textures, and jazz improvisation. Haley Fohr sings with a presence that borders on the eerie. ALICE has had the pleasure of hosting her on our stage multiple times, and we are absolutely thrilled to welcome this ever-evolving artist once again!

In March, Circuit des Yeux released the album ‘Halo on the Inside’ on Matador Records. In different ways, the songs on the album explore themes of metamorphosis and change. Produced by Andrew Broder, who has also collaborated with artists such as Jenny Lewis, Bon Iver, and Lambchop, the album received praise from media outlets like Pitchfork, The Quietus, and God is in the TV. When Circuit des Yeux performed at Roskilde Festival in 2017, her concert was recommended by Politiken, which compared her to both Nico and Nina Hagen, and Weekendavisen highlighted it as one of the festival’s standout moments. “I can make a radio break,” she sings on the grand, danceable, Depeche Mode-esque track “Canopy of Eden” from ‘Halo on the Inside’. Portal Pets

Dark, mysterious, and theatrical. That’s how one might describe Portal Pets, a new project emerging from the Copenhagen underground. The duo consists of Xenia Xamanek and Emil Palme, both of whom have already made their mark on the Danish music scene, particularly within experimental genres. Guitar and vocals form the foundation of their shared sound, which carries references to everything from indie rock and folk to metal and abstract electronic. In their music, the earthly and the otherworldly intertwine.

With a lyrical universe that blends Spanish and English, celestial melodies, and haunting sonic structures, Portal Pets aims to take listeners to a place where beauty, sorrow, and magic coexist. The duo has an album on the way, set to be released in February next year.
