“A milestone for Arabic hip-hop”
Shabjdeed is a rapper and songwriter. Al Nather is a producer, DJ and rapper. Together, they form an Arabic-language rap duo whose ferocious lyrics, trap, heavy bass and experimental beats have gradually moved from the underground to increasingly global recognition. Their debut album “Sindibad el Ward” was hailed as a milestone for Arabic hip-hop, while the single “Mtaktak” was named among BBC’s best hip-hop songs of all time. In 2024, the duo returned with the equally acclaimed “SULTAN”, continuing their ambitious worldbuilding with an uncompromising political edge. Shabjdeed’s lyrics explore everyday life, reclaiming the present, and the fundamental experience of existing as a Palestinian and an Arab – all carried by Al Nather’s distinctive, cinematic productions. Shabjdeed & Al Nather are known for their hard-hitting, meticulously crafted live shows, which have already taken them to Earth Hackney, Astra Berlin, Le Guess Who?, Primavera and Roskilde Festival.
