As a key producer behind some of the most forward-thinking music of recent years, Venezuelan artist Luis Garbán moves effortlessly between two distinct musical trajectories. Since emerging on the club circuit in the 2000s, he has been a prominent figure in the warehouse scene through his project Cardopusher, where industrial sounds and hard-hitting techno have been central pillars. At the same time, he has played an important role in the liberating neoperreo movement, which turns its back on commercial reggaeton in favour of DIY culture, inclusion and community. In Venezuela, the movement has taken on particular significance as a counterpoint to the country’s conservative political climate.
As Safety Trance, Luis Garbán recodes the DNA of Latin American club music through a deconstructed and hypnotic approach to reggaeton. Drawing on Venezuelan raptor house, dembow, Memphis rap and witch house, his music has set dancefloors ablaze around the world. In spring 2026, he released his debut album sacrificio, a record that navigates his high-intensity club sound alongside an extraordinary cast of collaborators, including Arca, Eartheater, Sega Bodega, Six Sex, Lua de Santana, nusar3000, Kinara and Meth Math. When Safety Trance takes over ALICE this September, audiences can look forward to stepping into a captivating and unsettling multisensory experience of deconstructed Latin beats and boundary-breaking visuals.
