On behalf of ALICE, TAPE and Studenterhuset, it is with deep regret we have to announce that the planned tour with Hans-Joachim Roedelius & Sofie Birch next week is cancelled. As an elderly person in a risk group, Roedelius feels it’s too big a risk to travel in times with rising infection numbers, and we completely respect that. We’re working on new dates in the future. All ticket holders for the show at ALICE will get their tickets automatically refunded via Billetto.
Hans-Joachim Roedelius
This September, the amazing sound-world of Hans-Joachim Roedelius will be presented at ALICE, TAPE and Studenterhuset Aalborg in collaboration with Goethe Institut Dänemark as part of the German-Danish Cultural Friendship Year. The 85 year old living legend, still going strong, has quite an impressive story. From child actor in UFA films, through forced conscription in the Hitler Youth to eventual cornerstone of contemporary music and art. Since the 1970s, he has been among the pioneers of experimental electronic and ambient music and has had a huge impact on musicians of all ages, all over the world. Roedelius is best known for being a founding member of Cluster and Harmonia and has worked with icons such as Brian Eno, Holger Czukay og Dieter Moebius. Roedelius performed an amazing show at Jazzhouse in 2015, so we’re proud to present him as part of our DD2020-project together where we send him to Copenhagen, Aarhus and Aalborg in collaboration with Tape and Studenterhuset.
Sofie Birch
Rich collages of ambient, dreams and electronic hardware. The Copenhagen-based composer Sofie Birch recalls blissful melodies and synth tones within swirling harmonies that subtle softens the ear. Her latest EP “Hidden Terraces” (2020) fulfills her style of sensibilities with her experimental streak. With a soundscape of flourishing strings, soft vocal, chimes, birds, creaks and a lingering synth line paving her way through organic symphonies. Sofie Birch played a wonderful concert at ALICE Summer Series this June, so we’re happy to present her as support for Roedelius.
