Experience an eclectic electronic evening at ALICE on March 8th featuring the German uncrowned industrial queen Gudrun Gut (Einstürzende Neubauten, Female Pressure), the experimental electronic musician and artist abji_hypersun aka Simin Stine Ramezanali (slim0, UUMPHFF-music), and Babeth, exploring the microtonal and rhythmic world in her electronic music.

Gudrun Gut
Gudrun Gut’s musical journey spans from the genius dilettantes underground scene in Berlin in the early 1980s, where she was a member of bands like Einstürzende Neubauten, Mania D, and Malaria!, to the dark, industrial pop trio Matador, and her extensive solo career with multiple albums and film scores. Gudrun Gut has been an active and important figure on Germany’s electronic scene, notably as one of the few visible female musicians in the 1980s, a radio host, festival curator, founder of the record label Monika Enterprise, and, most importantly, the founder of the Female Pressure platform, working for equality in the electronic scene—an effort that continues to have a massive influence today. The 66-year-old Gudrun Gut is in top form as she performs at ALICE.

abji_hypersun
abji_hypersun, also known as Simin Stine Ramezanali, is a Copenhagen-based visual media artist and drummer, recognized from the experimental doom punk trio slim0. Ramezanali’s practice spans music creation, visual art production, and behind-the-scenes work as a co-founder of the music platform and independent record label UUMPHFF-music. As abji_hypersun, they draw on theatrical non-linear storytelling with multiple voices and rhythms in layered compositions. The sound moves between the beautiful, the comical, the frightening, and the noisy. Using electronics and distorted instruments, abji_hypersun combines samples and field recordings, exploring channels for anger, sorrow, and liveliness, blending genres like drum’n’bass, ambient, and shoegaze. We look forward to presenting abji_hypersun once again.

Babeth
Babeth is a composer exploring the microtonal and rhythmic world in her electronic music. Her works provide the listener with references to popular music while striving to differentiate itself from it. In Babeth’s music, enchantingly beautiful and nostalgic soundscapes unfold with her microtonal language and immersive rhythms, often emerging as bombastic and uncompromising. Babeth is a new addition to the electronic scene, and she will be performing one of her first concerts this evening.
