Chupame el Dedo
Chupame el Dedo (which means “suck my finger”) is a collaboration between two Colombian musicians, Eblis Alvarez from Meridian Brothers and Pedro Ojeda from Romperayo. Originally, it was meant to be a one-off project, but since their first joint performance in 2013, the duo has kept alive this bold experiment that turned into a success: fusing death metal with tropical elements such as salsa, cumbia, currulao, and reggaeton.
The duo has released several records, most recently ‘Mi Rehabilitacion/No Seas Malo’, which came out in 2023 and even brought them to Roskilde Festival. This September, they’re set to release brand new material as well. Chupame el Dedo are known for their unique stage aesthetic; Eblis Alvarez and Pedro Ojeda perform wearing long red and yellow robes, improvising some parts of their set. As The Quietus wrote, “bonkers it may be, but it’s still brilliantly powerful.” Expect disorienting madness and peculiar sounds! Expect to headbang and to move your hips! Expect it to be both hardcore and seductive! We can’t wait to welcome Chupame el Dedo to our stage.
Elektrisk Ål
Elektrisk Ål is a Danish-Chilean quartet featuring drums, bass, electric guitar, organ and synthesizer, percussion, and vocals. The band’s sound fuses different styles and moods; Afro-Caribbean rhythms, afrobeat, tropical vibes, Latin vibes, reggaeton, cumbia, funk, and steppers. Together, they create a psychedelic and danceable musical expression.
The band, which played at Vinterjazz earlier this year and Nakkefestival last year, has a strong connection to Latin American music. You can hear it in their use of percussion and in their ability to craft deep and complex rhythms. At the same time, they draw inspiration from funk and jazz, giving their music a swinging groove that’s hard to stand still to. We look forward to getting swept away, when Elektrisk Ål visits ALICE in October!
