Bjarke Valentin
“Åh jeg vil elske de mange dage der går, forbi i mit evige år” (Oh, I will cherish the many days that pass, drifting through my eternal year) sings songwriter Bjarke Valentin on the track ‘Til gavmilde sole’. First in a near whisper, then with growing insistence as his fingers move across the piano. The song appears on his album ‘Menneskeløv’, which was released in the spring of last year. It received considerable airplay on Mads Axelsen’s now-defunct indie music program vær.her.nu on P6 Beat and was highlighted as one of the most treasured Danish releases of the year by the music magazine Passive/Aggressive.
With a background in the bands Synd og Skam and Lol Beslutning, Bjarke Valentin writes songs that balance between the everyday and the grandiose. Exploring themes of love, desire, and physicality, he crafts deeply personal and heartfelt compositions, often with melodic structures reminiscent of the Danish folk songbook Højskolesangbogen. So come to ALICE and experience the full singalong potential of his music, when Bjarke Valentin graces the stage with songs that are steeped in poetic snapshots, familiar intimacy, and dreamy redundancy: the sweet scent of fermenting apples on the lawn, a horizon stretching over golden rapeseed fields, a painful yet dazzling kiss between lovers who can never truly have each other…
Aron Dahl
Aron Dahl has a remarkable ability: he seamlessly combines explicit lyrics with catchy indiepop. In his genre-defying musical universe, you’ll encounter both vulnerability and boldness, simplicity and complexity. One moment, you’re leaning in to catch every word of his lyrics; the next, you’re floating away on dreamy synthesizers. With a sound inspired by country music, Aron Dahl crafts tender songs about fleeting encounters, care coming from an unexpected side, and heartbreak. In his music, Aron Dahl is at times vulnerable, at others humorous – a musical embrace you can lean into, a heart you can peek into.
Under the name Danielle Dahl, he debuted in 2018 with Loosening Orion’s Belt, an album celebrated by the Danish Arts Foundation as one of the year’s most innovative releases. The long-awaited follow-up, Moth/Flame, released in fall 2024, has earned praise for its diary-like, poetic lyrics. The album also reflects the personal transformation Aron Dahl himself has undergone – a change that has found a physical expression as well: his voice dropped nearly two octaves from the recording of the first song to the last. Aron Dahl previously graced our stage in 2018 and 2020. This year, he is joined by Anders Vestergaard (Yes Deer, Girls in Airports), Emil Palme (Clarissa Connelly, Yngel), Rasmus Kjær (Turist) og Ida Urd (Lucky Lo). We predict an incredibly exciting 2025 for Aron Dahl and are thrilled to warmly welcome this eclectic musician back to ALICE.
