Joining Isabel Douglass and Ulf Eriksson—who have been part of the Music Group since its establishment in 2023—Mero Cimen, Susi Castelo, and Winnie Nakaddu will help shape ALICE’s artistic direction as part of the group. Along with them, Maria Nøhr Wiuff is the new Program Coordinator at ALICE.
The new members bring together skills, insights, networks, and perspectives that span across the music industry. Their collective experience includes work with Roskilde Festival, the club music collective Bukhar, and deep knowledge of Southeastern European music, the Spanish-language music scene, African artists, and the Nordic underground.
With its diverse makeup and collective process, the Music Group is a hallmark of ALICE—and the beating heart of the venue’s commitment to broader representation and more powerful concert experiences.
“Following this first reshuffle in ALICE’s Music Group, I’m incredibly proud that we’ve managed to expand our reach even further. With the addition of these three highly skilled and vastly different bookers, we’ve succeeded in creating representation behind a larger portion of ALICE’s program—and at the same time joined an important conversation about the wide-ranging relevance of music. At ALICE, it’s essential that every single concert is grounded in strong artistic decisions and an embrace of cultural expression,” says venue director HC Gimbel.
A progressive approach to music programming
The three new bookers bring competencies, insights, networks, and perspectives that reach broadly across the music industry. Collectively, they have experience from Roskilde Festival, the club music collective Bukhar, and in-depth knowledge of Southeastern European music, the Spanish-speaking music scene, African artists, and emerging Nordic acts.
“We come from very different backgrounds, with different experiences, networks, and tastes—all of which shape how we listen to music. That’s why it’s so important to have multiple voices curating ALICE’s program. As a collective, we’re in the best position to move beyond individual habits and biases and ensure a broader representation in our bookings,” the group states jointly.
Each member of the Music Group brings their own distinct profile, but as part of the team, they work closely together in a shared process to craft a cohesive concert program. Before an artist is booked, there must be group consensus.
“Together, we aim to ensure that ALICE is a place where you can experience everything from iconic musical virtuosos to radical sonic experiments—where you can travel through all corners of the musical landscape and be exposed to a wealth of expressions and worldviews,” says the Music Group.
In a broader perspective, the collective model is meant to ensure that more people have access to all facets of ALICE’s operations—from curating the program and engaging as organizational partners, to standing on stage and discovering new experiences as audience members. This approach to artistic leadership is unique—both in Denmark and internationally.
The Music Group is complete as of May 1, 2025.
