Danish mavericks of progressive jazz and global inspirations team up with American saxophone ace Stephen Riley for a matiné show at ALICE. With a career spanning almost 40 years, Pierre Dørge and his New Jungle Orchestra has performed all over the world and has collaborated with a wide range of artists, just as they have constantly expanded on their unique take on big band jazz with inspirations from Africa, Balkan, The Far East and many other places. DownBeat wrote: “The Danish guitarist creates an exotically hued, rhythmically vibrant music that is simultaneously sophisticated and accessible. Pierre Dørge’s NJO has been one of jazz’s most consistently engaging big bands of the last decade.”
