Guy Davis US

Living blues and Americana legend Guy Davis comes to ALICE for an intimate solo concert

Guy Davis is a living legend of blues, folk and Americana, known for his virtuoso guitar playing and soulful vocals. The U.S. Grammy-winning musician has shared the stage with icons such as Bruce Springsteen, Chuck Berry and B.B. King, and this autumn he comes to ALICE for an intimate solo concert.

Guy Davis is not merely one of the great masters of the blues. He is a musical storyteller who creates a melting pot of genres, ranging from traditional blues to folk, gospel and Americana. His deft fingerpicking and soulful vocals create an authentic and captivating sound, with a live repertoire that combines original songs with beautiful interpretations of timeless classics.

Davis grew up in New York in the 1950s and ’60s as the son of acclaimed actors and prominent civil rights activists Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. The fight for justice, acting and the creative environment in which he grew up shaped him as a storyteller – something he carries into his music as a central element. Davis is also an award-winning actor and composer in his own right. He received a U.S. Grammy in 2017 and has performed with icons including Bruce Springsteen, Chuck Berry, Don McLean, Pete Seeger, John Denver and B.B. King. He has also had the great honour of performing twice for Queen Elizabeth II at Royal Albert Hall and for Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. Above all, Davis is a captivating performer with his guitar, and we are thrilled to present him at ALICE this October for an intimate solo concert.
