Fanø Free Folk Festival presents: Księżyc (PL) + Noisy Beehive DJs – Copenhagen Jazz Festival

Experimental folk

For the closing weekend of Copenhagen Jazz Festival we’re collaborating with Fanø Free Folk Festival to present a two-day line-up of experimental folk sounds at our Summer Series. For the Friday we’re thrilled to present a true cult group – the enigmatic Polish ensemble Księżyc (moon) – who will bring a mix of folk music, electronic experiments and magical rituals.

This concert is part of ALICE Summer Series’ Copenhagen Jazz Festival program and will take place in the yard between ALICE and UNION. Read more here.

Summer is upon us, and so is ALICE Summer Series – our open-air concerts with cold drinks and summer vibes galore, taking place in the courtyard between ALICE and UNION Fridays and Saturdays, from May and throughout August.

The name Księżyc (Polish for ‘moon’) conjures up an atmosphere of nightly rituals, witchcraft and mystique which seems highly fitting for this Polish gem of eerie psych folk. A true cult act, the group came into existence in the early 90s, released a self titled masterpiece and then faded into obscurity. They returned in 2013 and have since then played a row of successful shows at some of the world’s main festivals – including Roskilde Festival in 2017. Expect an otherworldly blend of old Slavic folk music, ambient, minimalism and and vocal experiments of the 20th Century – and a mesmerizing live show – when the group plays a rare Copenhagen show at ALICE Summer Series.

Noisy Beehive DJs
A couple of disciples from Noisy Beehive – Konsistent (Club Juma, Untitled Tricks) & Jokūbas (Noisy Beehive, Mavi Express) will entertain the eardrums with obscure, experimental yet groovy sounds on vinyl. Inspired by the miraculous music world of Księżyc.

Practical info about ALICE Summer Series

Under the title ALICE Summer Series, we present open-air concerts Fridays and Saturdays from May and throughout August. We’ve moved the bar outside as well, and we make sure to follow all current COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions. Luckily, recent changes in the restrictions allow our guests to stand during the concerts – though we’ve of course made sure there are plenty of benches in the yard so you can rest your legs. Food from our friends at Send Flere Krydderier will be available, and the courtyard opens at 4pm, so stop by early for a beer and a chat in the sun.

Please note that a valid corona passport is required to enter the courtyard! We recommend you purchase a ticket in advance as this makes it easier for us to contact you regarding infection tracking. Please also note that we accept credit card and MobilePay at the bar, but not cash.
