Since Lagos Thugs formed in Nigeria’s capital in 2020, the ensemble has quickly established itself as one of the country’s absolute top live bands. Drawing on the iconic sound of afrobeat and with clear links to the legendary Fela Kuti, the band lets hypnotic polyrhythms, warm horns, improvisation and call-and-response unfold through long, life-affirming tracks, creating a direct connection between musicians and audience. At a Lagos Thugs concert, the energy is constantly in motion and the dancefloor becomes a shared meeting point.

In 2024, Lagos Thugs released their critically acclaimed debut album CHAOS, cementing the band’s position on the contemporary afrobeat scene. Their music explores themes of power, injustice, freedom and African identity, carrying on afrobeat’s historic role as both protest music and a vehicle for collective expression. The band has shared stages with artists such as Ezra Collective, Seun Kuti, Made Kuti, Egypt 80 and Antibalas, and in 2026 they embark on an extensive tour across Africa and Europe.
