20:00 – Concert, Part 1
20:40 – Dance workshop (participation is optional)
21:20 – Concert, Part 2
With a repertoire of dance tunes such as polkas and waltzes, HrayBery sets the stage for a night celebrating folk music and dance. The band, playing instruments like violins, dulcimer, and frame drum, revives a musical heritage rooted in the borderlands between Ukraine and Poland. By listening to old recordings, uncovering sheet music in archives, studying ethnographic descriptions, and consulting older generations of folk musicians and dancers, the ensemble has rediscovered the melodies that they will bring to life on this special evening at ALICE.
On this night, HrayBery won’t just play danceable tunes – they will also lead a dancing workshop. Those interested will have the opportunity to take part in a dance workshop with the band members. As part of the evening’s program, HrayBery will teach traditional dances such as the kozak and the kolomyika. Participants are welcome to dance solo, in pairs, or in groups. Come and join in as HrayBery revives a shared heritage that has historically connected Poles and Ukrainians, Jews and Roma from the region – a tradition shaped by cultural exchange across borders and generations.
