DJ Travella doesn’t just perform – he launches you into a new dimension!
DJ Travella, aka Hamadi Hassani, began making music as a teenager and has since helped push singeli from local street parties in Dar es Salaam onto international club and festival stages. His breakthrough came with the breathless track “Crazy Beat Music Umeme 2”, which quickly became an underground hit and caught the attention of artists such as Arca and Björk. With his debut album Mr Mixondo on the influential label Nyege Nyege Tapes, he cemented his position as a leading figure in a new, radical wave of electronic music.
Live, DJ Travella is an experience unto himself. Armed with his signature Bluetooth keyboard, he appears as a kind of rave prophet, channeling the pulsing street life of Dar es Salaam straight onto the dancefloor. His sets are intense, unpredictable and euphoric – a sonic overload where warped beats, blown-out basslines and abstract sound fragments melt together. In recent years, he has left his mark on platforms such as BBC Radio 6 Music and Resident Advisor, and he continues to expand the singeli universe with new releases, most recently in 2025, where the genre is unfolded in even more experimental directions. DJ Travella doesn’t just play music – he opens a portal to the rave of the future. Experience it yourself when he performs at ALICE in April.
