DakhaBrakha UA

Ukrainian heroes performs a rare, intimate concert at ALICE

With their distinctive fusion of authentic folk songs, blues, punk, and polyphonic calls of solidarity, DakhaBrakha have become the sound of a free Ukraine. Since the Kyiv-based quartet first took shape at the Dakh Theatre more than 20 years ago, they have mesmerized audiences with their intense, performative concerts on some of the world’s most influential stages. In April, DakhaBrakha take over ALICE for a rare and intimate concert.

The Ukrainian quartet DakhaBrakha are much more than a band. They have become a powerful symbol of a new Ukraine: free, uncompromising, and unbreakable. With their distinctive sound—one they define as “ethno-chaos”—they unite authentic Ukrainian folk songs with global rhythms, cello, polyphonic vocal harmonies, theatrical intensity, and an almost ritualistic stage presence.

Founded at the experimental Dakh Theatre in Kyiv, DakhaBrakha have since conquered some of the world’s biggest and most influential stages—from Glastonbury and Roskilde to Sziget, Bonnaroo, and GlobalFEST. Everywhere they go, they leave audiences with the sense of having witnessed something deeply human and impossible to shake. The concert at ALICE marks the presentation of the band’s new album Ptakh (“Bird”), a work created over several years and shaped by war, resistance, and global solidarity. Ptakh is both title and symbol: a metaphor for freedom and for Ukraine’s strong, insistent voice. The songs are inspired by the strength of the Ukrainian people and by the support that has poured in from all over the world. Live, the music merges with powerful visuals and theatrical elements. When DakhaBrakha take the stage, they do so with a clear sense of responsibility: a musical testimony, an act of cultural resistance, and an invitation to solidarity. We are proud to present the band as they give a rare and intimate concert at ALICE.
