With a shared love for minimalist guitar riffs, uncompromising melodies, and nostalgic piano progressions, the two artists Mija Milovic and Barbro have come together under the name BIG FAN. The project stems from their mutual admiration. As they mentioned in an interview with The Lake Radio, they have a tendency to mimic each other. When writing songs, one tries to sound like the other, while the other suggests what they think the first one might come up with. With the singles “Wall of Mine,” “Forgetful,” and “Fucking June,” they have shown just how beautiful that devotion sounds.
With previous releases such as Mija Milovic’s ‘Still Life’ and Barbro’s ‘Bad Choices,’ the two artists have each solidified themselves as some of the most progressive voices in Danish music. With BIG FAN, they mark a new era of musical collaboration and experimentation. This May, they invite the audience into their songwriting process: In a unique performance presented in collaboration with Roskilde Festival, the duo unveils new works and allows the audience to get very, very close to their collaboration. Experience BIG FAN as they place music at the center—as a source of reflection and hope in a world that can sometimes seem hopeless.
