Formed in 2012, Danish 6-piece The KutiMangoes took West African music and fused it with their own backgrounds. Hailed for their sparkling mix of afrobeat and jazz – which the band themselves have described like a meeting between Fela Kuti, Charles Mingus and Ornette Coleman in Copenhagen – they have thrilled crowds all around the world. Their debut album Afro-Fire (2014) won two Danish Music Awards and took the band to Europe, Asia, Africa & the Middle East. Their new album “Afrotropism” (Tramp Records, 2019) is a colourful mix with hints of synthesizers, soundscapes and elektronic effects. When visiting ALICE, the KutiMangoes will play the new songs and spin records before and after the show. We’re looking forward!
