Calum Builder AU/DK + Erik Klinga SE

Meditative drones on a handmade pipe organ and modular soundscapes on Buchla synthesizers

Two distinctive voices from the Nordic experimental music scene come together at ALICE for an evening devoted to immersion, resonance, and a curious exploration of sound in its most subtle forms. Australian-Danish composer Calum Builder presents his remarkable handmade (Re)constructed Pipe Organ, while Swedish musician Erik Klinga opens the door to droning electronic landscapes shaped through modular synthesis and field recordings.

Calum Builder
“A beautiful and overwhelming experience.” – Politiken, 6 hearts

For years, Calum Builder has approached the pipe organ as if it were a modular synthesizer. With (Re)constructed Pipe Organ, he has created a truly unique instrument from reclaimed organ pipes salvaged from abandoned churches in Northern Jutland. The instrument’s mechanics are fully exposed – motor, bellows, wind chest, and pipework – becoming an integral part of the performance itself. Builder’s music unfolds through slowly shifting drones and shimmering overtones, striking a rare balance between meditative grandeur and playful human presence. His latest release, Although Changed, I Arise the Same (Thanatosis, 2026), follows the critically acclaimed Poor_in_Spirit, which was selected by Boomkat as one of the standout releases of 2025.

Erik Klinga
Erik Klinga is a composer and musician from Sandviken, Sweden. Drawing on electronic composition, modular Buchla synthesis, and a finely tuned sensitivity to timbre, he creates music that moves between dark ambient, drone, minimalism, and electronica. Klinga’s work is driven by an ongoing search for new sonic relationships, where synthesized sounds, acoustic sources, and field recordings merge into subtle, repetition-based structures. The result is both hypnotic and richly detailed – music that invites deep listening and careful attention.

Together, Calum Builder and Erik Klinga form a compelling double bill where craftsmanship, technology, and sonic ingenuity converge in a shared exploration of sound. An evening for anyone with a love of resonance, immersive listening, and serious sound nerdery.
