With a unique blend of Ghanaian highlife, reggae, dub and soul, and roots in both Ghana and Denmark, Total Hip Replacement & Anyankofo bring warm, pulsating grooves and soul-stirring horns to the stage. Get ready for an infectious and celebratory concert when the nine-piece collective hits ALICE to celebrate the release of their new album “Ehum” (2027), created with the West African reggae legend Tiken Jah Fakoly, Kwame Yeboah, and musicians from Florence Adooni’s band and Santrofi. The concert is part of Vinterjazz.

In recent years, audiences have truly begun to take notice of the highly accomplished highlife collective Total Hip Replacement. The release of the band’s first Danish-Ghanaian album, “Anyankofo” (2022), led to extensive tours across Europe, South America and West Africa. Both the album and the live shows received glowing reviews in the press, culminating in acclaimed appearances at legendary European festivals such as Bout du Monde and Reggae Jam. Now, the band are ready to release their second album, “Ehum”, arriving at the beginning of the new year. The album was created on the road – through touring, travels in Ghana and jams with musicians from both Ghana and Denmark, including the West African reggae legend Tiken Jah Fakoly, Kwame Yeboah, and musicians from Florence Adooni’s band and Santrofi. Its sound is dynamic and hopeful, while the lyrics are direct and reflect on the worrying direction the world is heading in. After years of friendship and musical exchange, the band delve even deeper into the meeting point between their different cultural roots, creating a new shared musical language that is impossible to stand still to.

At the same time, “Ehum” (2027) marks the beginning of a new major musical journey. First, the band will travel along the West African coast, with concerts in Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana. Then it’s on to Europe, where they will bring new impressions, euphoria and plenty of warmth to Danish venues in February and March 2027. Luckily, Total Hip Replacement will be stopping by ALICE, and we can only recommend joining us when the nine-piece collective sets the room into vibrant motion this February.
