Ryley Walker (US) + Emil Palme at Huset

American folk with journeys into psych and jazz

The brilliant American guitarist and singer Ryley Walker finally returns to Copenhagen, carrying the torch of folk pioneers such as Bert Jansch and Tim Buckley while mixing the folk sound with dreamy psychedelics and journeys into jazz improvisation.

Note: The concert takes place at Musikcaféen, Huset. The concert is part of ALICE’s membership programme

In 2021, Walker released the album “Course in Fable”, an album that sees him exploring psychedelic folk and prog rock. The album received critical praise. Uncut wrote: “It’s a short, ineluctably lovely set, light, bright and often dizzyingly joyful, but also thrillingly unpredictable, with complex, jazzy arrangements against which Walker’s phasing gently pushes and pulls.”

Without doubt, we’ll get the pleasure of hearing some of these songs live as Ryley Walker performs at ALICE this summer.

Emil Palme

Emil Palme’s work as an experimental guitarist, improviser and composer represents a variety of different constellations, projects and collaborations. Emil Palme lets genres shake hands and tilt over in new exciting ways. His music moves between improvisation, contemporary compositional music, folklore and even heavy metal. As a guitarist he removes the boundaries of the electric guitar. He uses simple tools such as stones to explore and interweave different approaches to the guitar and its sound. Emil Palme is also known from bands such as Baujillaud, Yngel, Bona Fide and Lunden. On this night, he will perform his work Death By Angel.
