With “Uma Elmo”, his fifth album as a leader for ECM, Danish guitarist-composer Jakob Bro presents a new trio featuring Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen and Spanish drummer Jorge Rossy. Widely regarded as one of the greatest guitarists on the Danish jazz scene, Jakob Bro has made a significant name for himself on the international scene, not only as a brilliant musician but also as a composer and band leader.
With his new trio he has found a constellation of musicians who Danish music magazine GAFFA rightly has labelled as a “match made in heaven”. “Uma Elmo” has also received praise from several international critics. Stereophile gave the album a 5/5 review, stating that “five stars should not be given out lightly, but Uma Elmo is unalloyed beauty”. BBC Music Magazine defined the album as “abstract music that’s also deeply profound”. Indeed a fitting description of the music, which is at one hand ethereal and deeply human in it’s nature. ALICE is excited to present this first class trio in the beautiful surroundings of Brorson’s Church on Nørrebro. A concert space which, without doubt, will be a wonderful match for the music.
