Alessandro Cortini IT + Pamela Angela – SOLD OUT

Epic ambient and melancholic soundscapes from the Italian master

Alessandro Cortini is one of the biggest names in modern electronic music and is the only Italian musician ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his involvement in the industrial band Nine Inch Nails. A true star will grace ALICE in February, enveloping the audience in beautiful melancholic, epic ambient compositions rumored to bring tears to the eyes. Pamela Angela opens the night. The concerts are part of Vinterjazz.

Italian musician, producer, composer, and instrument builder Alessandro Cortini is one of the most prominent figures in modern electronic music. Best known for his beautiful, melancholic, and epic ambient compositions reminiscent of industrial and 80s electronic music, he relentlessly envelops the listener. Cortini’s love for synthesizers and his balancing of dark moods, grandiose tones, and pulsating rhythms are unique, making his compositions simultaneously textured and hypnotic.

Alessandro Cortini has been a longstanding member of the iconic industrial band Nine Inch Nails but has been extremely productive as a solo artist. Over the past decade, Cortini has released a constant stream of his own fascinating works on renowned labels such as Mute (Depeche Mode, New Order, Swans, among others), Hospital, and Important Records. Over the years, he has collaborated with prominent artists such as Lawrence English, Merzbow, and Daniel Avery, with whom he released the masterpiece “Illusion of Time” (2020). In addition to extensive world tours, Cortini has created audio installations, provided soundtracks for fashion shows for brands like Alexander McQueen, Dior, and Fendi, and his music has featured in numerous films and TV series. Cortini was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020 for his work with Nine Inch Nails, making him the only Italian musician ever honored with that recognition.

In 2021, in collaboration with boutique synth builders MakeNoise, Alessandro Cortini released his own specially designed semi-modular synth, “Strega” (Italian for ‘witch’). That same year, he used Strega to create his latest full-length album, “Scuro Chiaro” (Mute), described by Pitchfork as “pitched somewhere between purgatory and the planetarium… consistently managing to thrill and surprise.” We are proud to present one of the current great stars in the ambient sky when Alessandro Cortini performs at ALICE in February.

Pamela Angela
Pamela Angela is a project with many facets – euphoria is offset by constant interruptions, and aggression is enveloped in romanticism. The project is based on a collaboration between Mia Ghabarou and Àslaug Magnúsóttir, where in their fragmented songwriting, they draw from classical music, electronics, and performance art. Their live performances are compelling and emotional, a process where the material undergoes many stages, is recycled, and given new life in new constellations, always adapting to the specific space. Pamela Angela released their debut album “OASIS PLAYLIST” (Haunter Records, 2023).

The concert is part of Vinterjazz 2024 – a nationwide festival taking place from February 1st to 25th. More information at www.jazz.dk
