With members hailing from Norway, Sweden and Denmark, the pan-scandinavian sextet VÍÍK moves effortlessly between hypnotic melodies from the Nordic song traditions, the wry, but yet elegant aesthetic of jazz and the catchy grooves of rock.
At the front of VÍÍK is the Norwegian folk singer and composer Elisabeth Vik, who lures the audience into an enchanting universe of mysterious medieval ballads and fairytales. In addition to Elisabeth, VÍÍK consists of Annelene Toft (violin), Villads Hoffmann (cittern), Morten Alkjær Lassen (accordion), Jakob Kragesand (double bass) from Denmark and finally Mårten Hillbom (percussion) from Sweden.
Already established as a mesmerizing live act, last year VÍÍK played at Danish Music Award Roots, where they were also nominated for the prize as Live Act of the Year. It’s with great pleasure that ALICE can welcome them on the stage at Musikcafeen in September, where they mark the release of their debut album.
Young Danish band Trio Ged will play the support with their fresh and groovy take on Nordic folk music.
