With high-pitched voice belting in melodies verging on psychedelia; a range of instrumentals meshing different genres of Brazilian popular music, Marina Sena throws clear references to gal Costa and the 1960s Tropicalía in Brazil. However, the magic of Sena and her debut album “De Primeira” lies in more than just its resemblance to singers like Costa, or even the vibratos of singers like Tulipa Ruiz.
