Marina Sena is already a super star in Brazil, where she has millions of followers and is headlining the biggest festivals and venues. Finally, the rest of the world is discovering her. The young pop darling, steering directly towards the stars, had her debut album at the top of many Best Albums of 2021-lists. Her seducing vocals and stunning stage presence make even the most stubborn pop skeptics surrender.
With high-pitched voice belting in melodies verging on psychedelia; a range of instrumentals meshing different genres of Brazilian popular music, Marina Sena throws clear references to gal Costa and the 1960s Tropicalía in Brazil. However, the magic of Sena and her debut album “De Primeira” lies in more than just its resemblance to singers like Costa, or even the vibratos of singers like Tulipa Ruiz. Sena flirts with a variety of genres, from samba to funk carioca, trap, reggae and axé, making it tropical and delicious. Last but not least, her music oozes of freedom and begs to be danced and surrendered to. We’re extremely proud of this unique chance to present Marina Sena at an intimate solo show at Valby Kulturhus this April. We think you shouldn’t miss this chance – cause next time she’ll probably be headlining the programme at Roskilde Festival.
