Groupa are true mavericks who have explored strange corners of Nordic folk music since the early 80s. Originally a quartet, Groupa is now a trio consisting of Mats Edén, Terje Isungset and Jonas Simonson. Using instruments such as flutes, viola d’amore and various percussion, the trio creates a deeply moving and often meditative take on Nordic folk music. “Silent Folk” one of their albums was named, a fitting name for the mystic moods conjured by the brilliant musicians. Recently they have explored various roots of Nordic folk in the trilogi “Kind of Folk” diving into inspirations from Sweden, Norway and Iceland.
In 2021 they are celebrating 40 years of adventures in folk music. To mark this, they will embark on a special tour performing together with two exciting young musicians who explore and challenge Nordic folk music traditions: Sara Parkman and Samantha Ohlanders. We’re beyond excited to present this wonderful constellation in Musikhuset København, where you get the chance to hear Parkman & Ohlanders as a duo, Groupa as a trio and finally the entire constellation together.
