The Japanese sound artist and instrument builder Yosuke Fujita (aka FUJI||||||||||TA) is known for stunning audiences and listeners with his unique hand-built organ, evoking rich inner landscapes. In his unique practice, he explores various natural phenomena in a constant quest to conjure previously unheard sounds and noise. In 2009, he hand-built a pipe organ with only 11 pipes and no keyboard. Inspired by traditional Japanese gagaku music, the pipe organ evokes rich inner landscapes in the listener, bringing to mind the rustling of the wind and wildlife.
Since 2006, FUJI||||||||||TA has had many solo concerts and collaborative projects with iconic musicians, including ∈Y∋ (Boredoms), Akio Suzuki, Keiji Haino, and Koichi Makigami. He has presented his sound installation works in numerous contexts, notably the piece “CELL,” which brought to life the sounds of black soldier fly larvae buried in soil, exhibited at the Sapporo International Art Festival 2017, attracting great interest in FUJI||||||||||TA’s artistic practice. The album “iki” (Hallow Ground, 2020) and the subsequent “KŌMORI” (Boomkat Editions, 2020) made him known beyond Japan’s borders, and audiences have only become more aware of the unique Japanese sound artist. We are excited to present a very special concert experience when FUJI||||||||||TA visits ALICE.
