Ebo Krdum SD/SE – matiné

Contemporary political afroblues

Ebo Krdum is a Swedish-Sudanese activist-artist born and raised in Sudan and residing in Sweden since 2010. His musical journey began when he was five years old in western Sudan where he taught himself multiple instruments, setting himself on the road towards his own unique sound, beyond what tends to be taught in music schools and institutions. He creates contemporary political afro-blues and afrobeat music rooted in several musical traditions around the sub-Saharan area.

Over the past four years Ebo has been vigorously present in various live music scenes, mainly in the welcoming adopted home of Sweden, but also in other EU countries, presenting his different musical projects and workshops with various Swedish and international musicians, including a very successful showcase at WOMEX-21.

His solo-debut album Diversity was released in 2021 to remarkable reviews, appearing amongst the Top-Ten ‘Best of the world’ for SongLines Magazine UK. In May 2022 he released his second solo album, Love & Struggle, described by Magnus Säll as “…deeply moving… an excellent example of the music of exile.” DN June 2022 . He then released his third Album, Revolt For Change, composed of 7 new songs.

In 2022 Ebo was awarded the Swedish Grammy, composer of the year at the world & folk music ceremony, Africa Is More and received the “Rhythm of the year” award at the prestigious Manifest gala.

He was also nominated for the culture award of Sweden’s biggest daily newspaper (Dagens Nyheter), the Nordic Council Music Prize and Songlines Best Artist category.
