Bell Witch
The American duo Bell Witch emerged in 2010 in Seattle, USA, and musically draws from heavy and gloomy doom metal and even slower funeral doom. The darkness and heaviness are accentuated by a signature sound, where the guitar, so central to metal music, is eschewed in favor of a minimalist soundscape consisting of bass, drums, and occasional lonely organ passages.
Bell Witch distinguished themselves as sublime conveyors and innovators of lengthy compositions in metal music with the masterpiece “Mirror Reaper” (Profound Lore) in 2017. Dedicated to the band’s former, now-deceased drummer Adrian Guerra, “Mirror Reaper” grappled with the fragility of life and the brutal presence of death in an interplay of quiet passages and crushing riffs in a relentless work lasting over 80 minutes. On the group’s latest album, “Future’s Shadow Part 1: The Clandestine Gate” (Profound Lore, 2023), the first part of an ambitious trilogy, Bell Witch takes the lengthy compositions and melancholic sound further from “Mirror Reaper” in grand and epic charges. Bell Witch delivered an unforgettable sold-out concert at ALICE in 2018, and we are proud to present them again when they perform accompanied by dazzling visuals.
