Puce Mary
Puce Mary is the moniker of Danish artist Frederikke Hoffmeier. Over a long career in the experimental electronic music scene, she has built a reputation for intense live shows. These performances range from gripping renditions of cinematic compositions to the full-on fury of spontaneous harsh noise. Puce Mary’s music, often described as industrial noise, is capable of creating works that are both dark and noisy, yet also breathtaking and transcendent. Since her debut in 2011, she has built an impressive catalog of music that has received wide acclaim for its unique fusion of experimental electronic music and noise. Her latest album, The Drought, released on the renowned Berlin-based label PAN, has been described by The Quietus as “…her strongest album to date and one where ‘noise’ is but a tool towards a much more expansive expression of music.”
Alex Zhang Hungtai
Alex Zhang Hungtai is a Canadian musician, actor, and film composer, best known for his project Dirty Beaches. After retiring Dirty Beaches in 2014, Zhang Hungtai embarked on a musical journey that radically differs from his previous releases. His music directly explores the correlation between improvisation and the unconscious, drawing inspiration from ritualistic music. Through this new musical expression, Zhang Hungtai has also shifted his focus to film music, and his latest soundtrack for the film Godland was nominated for the Un Certain Regard award at the Cannes Film Festival. His music outside the screen is deeply inspired by modern film scores, and Zhang Hungtai masterfully conveys moods that resonate deeply with the listener.
