The Tuareg music of the future is played by Les Filles de Illighadad, a talented group from the small village Illighadad in the middle of the dusty desert of Niger. Their music draws on distinct styles of regional sound, ancient village choral chants and desert guitar. The result is a groundbreaking new direction for Tuareg folk music and a sound that resonates far outside of their village. In the past years, the band has toured nonstop, bringing their highly specific sound to distant corners of the globe.
Les Filles de Illighadad’s third full-length, “At Pioneer Works” (Saleh Sounds, 2021), was recorded over two sold-out shows in Brooklyn. We are excited to be able to present the group again after great past shows at Global and ALICE. A huge recommendation to everyone who missed them last time.
