The Swedish country and Americana trio My Dear Companion sings masterfully in crystal-clear three-part vocal harmonies, reminiscent of old-time country and bluegrass artists like The Carter Family and High Sierra Trio. Accompanied by simple, warm guitar arrangements, banjo, and dulcimer, the music is magnificent in its simplicity and an absolute highlight of ALICE’s spring program.

My Dear Companion is a Swedish Americana and country trio, known for their masterfully performed vocal harmonies, reminiscent of old-time country and bluegrass artists like The Carter Family, The Stanley Brothers, and High Sierra Trio. Their name is a reference to a song performed by the trio of Dolly Parton, Emma Lou Harris, and Linda Ronstadt. My Dear Companion brings a unique and breathtaking flair to their repertoire of Americana and country music.

The trio is on the brink of releasing their second album, “Well of Time” (2024), which is a collection of primarily original songs written in close collaboration between the three band members. On the album, they stay true to their country roots while seeking ample inspiration from American folk music and country spirituals. The songs are poetic gems; beautifully detailed melodies and stories filled with romance, longing, and sorrow.

My Dear Companion plays their music with presence and warmth, and the songs exist beautifully in the tension between melancholy and hopefulness. There are heartbreaking cowboy ballads about life and death and cheerful odes to life, sung in phenomenal three-part harmonies. The music is grand in its simplicity, and its vulnerability and honesty leave no audience member untouched. We look forward to presenting My Dear Companion as they perform their first Danish concert since 2019.
