A magical encounter between experimental guitar music and delicate strings takes place at ALICE as Yngel and a string quartet take the stage to perform “Silva” – an album they recorded together as part of ALICE Works in Brorsons Church in 2021, set for release on the iconic Fatcat Records on September 27, the day after the release concert. On stage, Yngel and the string quartet will merge shimmering sounds into sonic and textural soundscapes. The music exists in the folk melodic soil with a love for the romance of neoclassicism and the adventurous spirit of the avant-garde. Longing melodies and extended harmonic improvisation moments form the basis for the groups’ shared expression, encompassing a kind of fragile complexity and melancholic resonance.
Yngel consists of Emil Palme and Taus Bregnhøj-Olesen. Over the past few years, the critically acclaimed duo has released five albums and toured Southeast Asia and England. This evening’s concert marks Yngel’s sixth album for string quartet and electric guitar. The string quartet consists of some of the most progressive Danish musicians in contemporary and experimental music. Their names are recognized both as soloists and from groups such as Halvcirkel, Blue Lake, Toechter, and more. We look forward to this exceptional evening when Yngel and the string quartet play their release concert.
