Tashi Dorji

The experimental guitarist Tashi Dorji is known for his avant-garde, technically intricate musical expression. Born in Bhutan and based in Asheville, North Carolina since 2000, Dorji has developed a completely personal guitar language that’s delicate yet untamed, and drawing inspiration from a vast range of genres. As a teenager, Dorji immersed himself in metal, punk, and rock before discovering free jazz, the avant-garde, and open improvisation. Today, these influences converge in his mesmerizing instrumental pieces for both acoustic and electric guitar. Through his music, Tashi Dorji asks life’s biggest questions: how we live, struggle, and die.

Tashi Dorji has built up an extensive discography, most recently we will be wherever the fires are lit, released last year on Drag City. The album was warmly received, with Pitchfork writing: “Dorji’s music is rapturously motivational, bolts of pure feeling that at least make me want to be a better citizen of the world.” Dorji may play without words, but never without intent. Expect nothing less than a concert experience of the highest order.

Vibrant as fuck

Vibrant as fuck is the solo project of composer and electric guitarist Rune Risager. Known from bands and projects such as Bright Young Future, Den Fjerde Væg, Rune Majeure, GNOM, School of X, Atusji, and J. Ludvig III, Risager explores the possibilities of contemporary guitar music through this moniker. With expressive energy and a signature sound, Rune Risager is an artist who seduces, surprises, and touches the heart. Look forward to an evening in the company of a true experimental guitar virtuoso!
