Through nostalgic sunshine surf and lo-fi psychedelic garage infused with undertones of traditional Thai music genres, Khana Bierbood bring us along for an mesmerizing concert evening – opened by DJ Berrin Baş, known from the psych rock band TUHAF. 

DJ Berrin Baş
With roots in Turkey and a childhood spent in Jutland, Berrin Baş has always carried her cultural heritage with her. Both as the frontwoman of the Danish-Turkish psych-rock band TUHAF and behind the decks as a DJ. Her sets are a tribute to the sounds she grew up with, from weddings in Turkey to clubs in Copenhagen. Drawing on both traditional folk music elements and modern beats, she blends Turkish çiftetelli, arabesque, disco, pop, trap, and techno into one cohesive experience. Expect sweaty rhythms, deep emotions, and a musical journey through the soundscape of the S.W.A.N.A. region.

Khana Bierbood creates a mesmerizing harmony in the fusion of different styles. Their charming sound is deeply rooted in ’60s surf and ’70s psychedelic garage, but with a twist of indigenous Thai genres like luk thung and molam. These genres underwent a massive transformation in the ’70s, influenced by American soldiers stationed in Thailand, who brought psychedelic rock, soul, and funk with them—via guitars, vinyl records, and radio stations. 

Formed in 2012, Khana Bierbood has been winning over music enthusiasts worldwide with their warm, lo-fi sound. A few years ago, they released the album ‘Strangers from the Far East’, which they toured across Europe and the UK — including a stop at ALICE. Watch out for a sunburn when the Thai psychedelia band returns to the ALICE stage this May!
