The Great Park (UK) + illemann

Alternative folk and lo-fi

ALICE follows the guidelines from the Danish authorities regarding Corona-virus (Covid-19). Due to the latest declaration from the authorities to close the borders of Denmark up to and including April 13, all shows with international artists until that date will sadly have to be cancelled or postponed. Luckily we’ve now found a new date for the show on September 7th. More info on the Corona situation and ALICE here

Fanø Free Folk Festival and ALICE present a Free Folk Monday with focus on lo-fi ballads and fragile folk. We’re delighted to present The Great Park from England as well as local songwriter illemann.

With his self-proclaimed ‘problem folk’, Stephen Burch has created a haunting catalogue of songs under the moniker The Great Park. With equal parts traditional English balladry, neo-folk, modern angst and lo-fi aesthetics, his songs are both bleak and funny, and damn catchy too. So don’t be surprised if you end up singing along, while you’re sinking into a swamp of despair.

The Great Park is often travelling the roads of Europe, performing his songs, and he has also visited Denmark several times. But it will be his first time at ALICE.

The evening will start with a set from local artist illemann. She recently put out the album ‘Stick’ on Dendron Records. A beautiful and understated album, lyrically exploring an ecstatic state of pleasure, longing, loss and guilt.
