A producer and percussionist from Tunisia, now living in Copenhagen, Nuri is one of the upcoming promising musicians of African futurism, mixing deep bass, organic percussion with poly rhythmic grooves, sharing bills with names like Clap Clap and Dengue Dengue Dengue.
In 2017, he released his debut album on Shouka, a label focusing on traditional music and contemporary electronic from North Africa and beyond. ‘’Drup’’ is a tribute to Tunisian’s African heritage, and a bridge to other traditions, replete with percussion and vocals from all over the mother continent, combined with digital work to constitute an amalgam of then and now. Nuri blessed the audience at Roskilde Festival with a great concert, and we’re looking forward to present him at ALICE.
Shitney was formed in 2015 with the purpose of creating new and uncompromising music on a contrasting acoustic/electric sound plane. Now, after 2 intense years of touring and working together, they released their debut album, Earth Core, on ILK music. Earth Core is comprised of experimental improvisations using the title as subject matter: an imagined excavation of metals and chemical substances, physical laws and paradoxes. Earth Core was nominated to Danish Music Awards 2017. The three members of Shitney are all sonically familiar with each other, having previously crisscrossed in various musical constellations on the Copenhagen scene. They will perform before Nuri.
